Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

Purpose

NammaSafe is a community-driven informational tool that aggregates safety signals from anonymous contributors and public data sources. It is designed to help residents make informed decisions about personal safety in Bengaluru.

Not a substitute for emergency services

NammaSafe is NOT a replacement for police, emergency services, or official safety advisories. In an emergency, call 112 immediately.

Risk levels displayed are community-generated estimates based on limited data. They may be inaccurate, outdated, or incomplete. Always use your own judgment.

No warranty

This service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or reliability of safety data. An area showing "No Recent Signals" does not mean it is safe.

Community guidelines

  • Report honestly based on your experience or observation
  • Do not submit false reports to manipulate area scores
  • Do not use this platform to harass, defame, or target individuals or communities
  • Do not attempt to identify or locate individuals from reported incidents

Devices that submit consistently false or malicious reports will be rate-limited and their reputation reduced, decreasing the weight of their contributions.

Limitation of liability

NammaSafe, its creators, and contributors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of this service, including but not limited to harm suffered in areas marked as low-risk.

Data sources

  • NCRB data: Aggregate crime statistics for Bengaluru from National Crime Records Bureau (2021–2023). City-level only — not neighbourhood-specific.
  • Community reports: Anonymous submissions from app users, weighted by contributor reputation.

Changes to terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
